8 YouTuber Conventions You Can’t Miss This Year

The YouTube community is generally fun, friendly and far-flung. YouTubers are everywhere! While we can all connect to one another online with videos and comments, many folks love heading out to a convention and meeting other YouTubers in person.

Here are 8 great YouTuber Conventions in 2017 you won’t want to miss:

1. VidCon

You can’t talk about YouTuber conventions without mentioning VidCon. This multi-genre online video conference has been going strong since 2010. They’re one of the originals and even today one of the biggest video conventions in the world.

The event was created by Hank and John Green of the Vlogbrothers. 2017 is VidCon’s eighth year – and the first one held outside the U.S. Aside from their traditional conference in Anaheim, California, they’re also holding events in the Netherlands and Melbourne, Australia.

2. Streamy Awards

The Streamys are basically the Oscars of the Internet. They’re a large, rather prestigious award show which often has considerable star power. Of all the YouTube-related events, the Streamys probably have the most mainstream appeal. In 2015, the show even aired on VH1.

The Streamys celebrate the best in online video. Categories include Comedy, Drama, Indie and more. Nominees are often an interesting mix of established stars and promising newcomers.

Don’t worry if you can’t attend in person this year. You can still join the fun on Twitter. For the first time in their six-year history, the show will be streamed live on Twitter.

3. PlayList Live

Meet your favorite online stars – and maybe even party with them! This three-day event is for both industry pros and devoted YouTube fans.

Two separate conventions are being held this year. Friday is Business Day, where you can network and learn about the latest online trends. Saturday and Sunday are when the convention really kicks off with panels, celebrity stars and more.

PlayList Live is created by AKT Enterprise. Originally a T-shirt company, today AKT plays a big role in online video merchandising.

4. YouTube Fan Fest

Why go to the convention when the convention can come to you instead? YouTube FanFest is a traveling live show. In 2016, the show went from India to Canada to Australia and then Brazil – all in just a few months.

Each Fan Fest is customized for the local area. So if one is nearby, you’re sure to see video stars which are popular in your region.

5. BeautyCon

The worlds of fashion, makeup, and style are all very popular online. BeautyCon is the convention for all virtual fashionistas out there. They bring together the internet’s best beauty gurus, brands, and fashion fans.

With a conference Social Package, fans can meet and mingle with their favorite fashion stars from YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram and more.

6. RTX

Beauty isn’t the only genre with a big presence on YouTube. Gaming culture on YouTube shines during RTX. Described as the convention “where gaming meets the internet,” RTX is a product of popular entertainment company Rooster Teeth.

RTX is three days of fun in the Austin sun. Attendees can learn about upcoming game launches, the game industry, internet culture and more. Plus, you can meet Rooster Teeth celebrities and other popular online stars.

7. Amplify Live

YouTube Down Under! Amplify Live is one of Australia’s largest YouTuber conventions. They offer a live YouTube experience which tours the country. This year their Australia/New Zealand tour includes Nash Grier and friends.

Amplify Live is also producing another event this year: Cool for Summer. This single-day festival combines Australia’s biggest social media stars and hottest musical acts. Attendees can party all day with live performances, DJ sets, rides and more. You’ll also be able to meet many of your social media favorites.

8. Summer in the City

Since 2009, Summer in the City has been the U.K.’s largest YouTube and online video festival. Creators, industry folks, and online video fans will all find plenty of industry info as well as lots of jolly good fun.

Events include live performances, panels, talks and more. All ticket holders can fill out an online ballot to win a chance to meet with their favorite content creators.

The event is also famous for gigantic merch hall, where attendees can find all sorts of gear, souvenirs and more.
